FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK

Greetings and salutations to you all!
You know I can’t figure out where time goes so fast. I’ve been wanting to stop and smell the roses, but lately when I get there, they’re wilted and falling off the bush. Here it is June and I have gotten very, very little flying time at the field or anywhere.
Today I received a wonderful E-mail from David Jenkins announcing the Father’s Day Fun Fly. Sounds like it’s going to be fun. If it’s anything like last years event it’s going to be a great event! Bill Hermes as CD always puts on a good show.  I’ve got to make time for this one!
Well, I contacted Our Faithful President for his input for this Month’s Newsletter but he must be as busy as a bee like me, for I haven’t received anything from him. I understand Al; It gets mighty hectic out there sometimes.
By the way folk’s, don’t forget that this IS your Newsletter. If you have any input that you want printed send it to me via e-mail and I will post it for you.
The paving of the runway is still up in the air. The latest information I received was that talks were going on with the mayor and council of Sierra Vista.  Will keep you posted as information trickles in.
A big THANK YOU goes out to  Tom Fenn III for his great efforts at restoring the runway after vandals drove their automobiles onto it and decided to use it for a raceway.

CLIMB AND GLIDE EVENT

Dave Jenkins reported that the Climb and Glide Event was a great success.
Don Mulligan was the Contest Director. Bill Hermes called the shots and Pete Haring was the time keeper/ recorder. There were six participants; David Jenkins, Tom Fenn Jr., Will Herman, Al Tomlinson, Richard Hotchkiss and Jerry Mingo.
Tom Fenn Jr. was the winner of the contest. Will Herman was second and Al Tomlinson came in third. Great Event! Congratulations to All!!

FOR YOUR INFO

Clubs with restricted memberships will have to reconsider their Limits.
It is reported that park flyers are selling like wildfire. A 4 to 1 ratio compared to “regular” model airplanes. Folks, it doesn’t look like “Park Flyers” are going away in the near future.  They are even talking of selling these kits in places such as Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, etc. A lot of clubs are complaining about radio interference. Perhaps it would be wise to incorporate these flyers into the “regular” model airplane community. Think of it; more members for the club. A chance to teach these new members “regular” model technology and have them at the field where the radio interference problem can be controlled.

Happy Flying!
