Newsletter
Format Change and Distribution
A discussion was held at the May
Club meeting on the format and direction the Newsletter should take.
It was determine the Newsletter would be reduced to a page and distribution
would be made by Internet E-mail to the maximum extent. Therefore,
I'm requesting that club members who have Internet E-mail service to please
forward your E-mail address to me, jmingo@theriver.com.
Members who do not have Internet access will continue to receive the Newsletter
by mail.
This is my first attempt in trying
out a new format for the Newsletter. You can expect some revisions
to format as I climb up the learning curve.
The
Club's Homepage
http://www9.50megs.com/mmrcc
Over the past couple of weeks David
Jenkins has taken on the position as Webmaster for the MMRCC Home page.
He has done some wonders in developing a new web site for us. It
is a commercially sponsored site that will provide 50 megs to us at no
charge as long as we put up with some advertising. The user can close
the advertising banners and boxes at any time. |
The
Homepage will have links to several areas: pictures, for sale items, club
officers, coming events, ect.
We are open
to any suggestions on how to improve the Homepage. Comments can be
sent directly to the Webmaster
via the E-mail link.
The
President's Corner
Meyer Gutman
told me this week that he expects to be moving to Washington State this
coming summer. Apparently there is a job open with TRW at Fort Lewis/Yakima,
and Meyer is interested in that job. Consider for a moment what Meyer
has meant to all of us; a friend, always willing to listen to our challenges,
and always ready to spend his time to help; a loyal instructor pilot who
has taught more of us to fly than I can remember; a caring, sensitive safety
officer at the field, using tact whenever one of us went askew of a safety
rule; and a dedicated teacher who put on countless training sessions so
that we might have an easier time of pursuing our hobby. Meyer has
demonstrated the epitome of an RC modeler by always putting the needs of
others first, even to his own detriment. I ask that each of you consider
what this man meant to each of us, and before he leaves tell him how much
you appreciate him.
Until next
month, fly safe!

The
Fatalistic Flyer Tip
As you finishing
building the fuselage, in the tail section, wrap up a large plastic garbage
bag and stow it there. In case of a crash, the plane has a self-contained
body bag. Think about it, very few planes last a lifetime, especially
at our flying field. |
