SIERRA VISTA
MALL SHOW

The Sierra Vista Mall Show was a great success. I was very much impressed by the number and quality of aircraft in the static display.  While I was there a group of onlookers were having fun watching some of the videos being shown while others were mesmerized at the beauty and workmanship of the model aircraft on display.
My grandson didn’t want to leave and wanted for me to take pictures of each and every model. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me and because of a previous engagement we didn’t get to spend as much time as we both wanted.  I must also mention that the club attendance was extremely good. Tom Fenn, Will Herman, Jerry West, Don Sanders, Bill Hermes, Jerry Mingo, Pete Haring Rich Hotchkiss, Tom Campbell and Al Tomlinson comprised the attendance roster while I was there. My congratulations go out to all those that worked so hard to put this together.

From the Editors
Desk

Before I left on a TDY trip to Augusta, Georgia I became the proud owner of a Merlin electric Park Flyer. This aircraft has expanded the word fun into my model flying experience. Although

this aircraft can’t be flown in windy conditions, it performs very well in light breeze conditions. I spent many a happy time with this unit while in Georgia, that is when it wasn’t raining. It seemed like it rained almost every other day. I’m using this unit to teach (try) my grandson to fly. That’s even more fun. There’s a great article about Park flyers in the May Model Aviation Magazine. It looks like Park Flyers are becoming an addition to the already great hobby of model airplane building and flying.

For Safety Sake

As we look around spring has sprung and all those afflicted by the love of model aeronautics are busy getting their favorite models ready to take to the skies. With the days getting longer and the sun shining brighter the flying field will be a busy place. So now is the time to take safety into account. No only your own safety but also the safety of those around you. Be sure to pick up a frequency pin so as not to intrude into someone else’s frequency.  Be careful when staring and running the engine on your model, one slight miscalculation can cost you a painful injury. Protect your eyes from flying debris the propeller wake may cause. Refrain from smoking around flammable liquids. It could only take seconds for a fire to consume your beautiful model.  Think Safety!

Happy Flying!
