THE PREZ SEZ
Hi everyone
Happy
New Year to you all. This is my first newsletter of 2008 so here we go
again. I hope by now you've all had a chance to fly off the new runway.
It's a little different from the dirt but with practice we should all
get the hang of it. It's really nice at the end of the day not to be
cleaning oily grit from the monokote.
We just had the
first meeting of the year; it was well attended by the usual faces. We
have another big year planned so if you want a say in what goes on in
your club you need to show up. I try and keep the evening short so it's
only an hour out of your evening. Since Tom Campbell was unable to
attend here's a quick recap of the evening.
A lot of members
voiced disappointment over the Christmas Dinner and we decided to move
to a new venue next year. If you have any ideas and would like to
volunteer to organize next years dinner please let me know.
It was agreed that
the club would purchase a new awning cover to replace the one that was
stolen (?) from the field.
Concern was again
expressed over the safety of the single wire fence line. This wire was
put there by the city to prevent access to the runway by motorized
vehicles. I will speak to the city again at my next meeting with them.
Looking at the last
two points we looked at ways to increase security at the field. The
First thing we need to do is get back into the habit of closing the gate
when the last person leaves. Just the fact of the gate being closed will
deter a lot of people looking to enter after hours. I worked on the gate
a couple of days ago and it closes just fine. I will also pass this on
to the city at my next meeting.
Interest was shown
in putting up a flagpole so we can raise and lower the flag on flying
days. This I am also passing on to the city.
The city has also
promised to paint a center line for us and I passed on a diagram of what
we would like them to paint. Date and time is.....soon.
Talking about the
city we decided to present John Startt with something to express our
thanks for everything the city has done for us this past year. Not only
the runway but they also gave us a lot of help with the open house. I'm
working on the something to present to him and will update you all as
soon as it comes together.
We also agreed to
have the open house and Fun flys again this year. Eric has once again
volunteered to take on the open house after doing an outstanding job
last year.
As far as I can
remember and from my notes that was the meeting in a nutshell.
Watch your e mail
for upcoming events.
See you all at the
field
Mick
