Hi Folks! By the time you read this it should be February, and some of the items on this list of "coming attractions" should have come to pass. The first item coming up is that we have asked for, and tentatively been granted permission to use Libby Field again. For dates and rules, please see Mesquite Modelers website (isn't that a cute way to make sure everyone uses the website? No? Well, I'll just have to come up with a better one!) For those of you who were at the January club meeting, I recommended that we consider having a mall show early this year. Well, Ed Koharik jumped up and said "I'll do that", and it looks like we'll have a mall show in March. So, please put that on your calendars - I believe Ed is looking at the 23rd of March. My final item this month involves my other duty of safety officer - I'd like to remind everyone to stay clear of the no-fly zones; don't fly over the salvage yard, don't fly over the pits, and don't let the airplane get behind you! That's all for now - see you next month. Next MMRCC Club Meeting The next meeting of the MMRCC is scheduled for February 7, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. The meeting will be held at the TRW facility (Highway 90 Bypass). Personnel are required to sign-in and sign out for security purposes. |
Several events were discussed at the meeting and are now in the works to become a reality. These include a Mall Show, annual Climb and Glide slated in May, the Fathers Day Fun Fly in June, Young Eagles at Sierra Vista Airport, and a Combat Shoot Out later on in the Year. EDITOR’S DESK Events are posted on the Web site. I know a number of members do not have internet capability, so for these people, I will list events that that come in the near future. The first of these are approval to fly a Libby Field. Immediate dates are Feb. 2, and March 30. Any non-internet users contact me or club officers and we can relay all pertinent ground rules that must be followed or we can lose this privilege. Just a couple of little tidbits that I have found on the internet when I had nothing else to do. 1.To go up, pull the controls back, to go down, pull the controls back some more. 2. It’s better to break ground and head into the wind than to break wind and head into the ground. 3. And finally, keep the shiny side up, the greasy side down and always try to keep the pointy end going forward. Any questions, comments, or information you would like me to include, please contact me. Till I see you at the field, Will |
