Christmas Party

The Christmas Party was a great success. Tom Fenn and our outgoing President Bill Hermes kept it lively and fun.  Before the party was over everyone present had won a prize. The big winners netting themselves great models were: Tom Campbell who won a Tracer Pattern Plane. Jerry Mingo came away with a Cap 232. Tom Stephens got himself a great Lanier Stinger 60 model.  Everyone had lots of Fun!

From The Editor

Greetings and Salutations to you All! As your new Newsletter Editor I hope to maintain the quality in print as my predecessor Jerry Mingo. Thanks Jerry for a job well done! I’m not sure how many of the membership I have met, but I hope to get
acquainted with all those I haven’t. My name is Michael Rosado. I’ve been working for the Department of Defense for the last 32 years.  At the present time I’m an Instructor / Installer with the USANETA-ITID Basic Installers Course. My wife Carmen and I been married 32 wonderful years. We have two children, Miguel and Carrol Lynn. Our four grandchildren  keep us young and on our toes.  As a young man I became interested in model aircraft after seeing some people flying their models, in New York’s Central Park. I just fell in love with flying. Although I really never had the time or the finances, I never lost my love for the hobby. After many years I’m  into it, and enjoy it like a kid with a new toy.  Now, I need to learn how to fly well!  May God bless you All.  Happy Flying!

The President’s Corner

I feel honored to have been elected  President of the Mesquite Modelers RC Club. Bill Hermes has done a tremendous amount of work over the years as club president. His shoes will be hard to fill to say the least.
There are many of you out there wondering who Al Tomlinson is. I’m 45 years old and live in Bisbee. My wife name is Cheryl and we have one son. Sean is 11 years old. We’ve been married for 24 years. I’ve been employed by the
Cochise County Sheriff’s Office for the past 24 years. I’m currently assigned to the patrol division, and supervise the Bisbee Substation. I’m also assigned to the training staff. I train and certify our deputies in the use of firearms. My previous assignment was supervising the community services unit and the DARE Program. On a part-time basis, I also teach Criminal Justices for Cochise College, both in a traditional classroom and online. I’ve been flying radio control aircraft for the past 11 years. Les Wolslagel was my flight instructor.
Some things to look forward to:
I have been in contact with the president of the 2001 Sierra Vista Airshow, Stu Dutcher. He has assured that the MMRCC will be flying more often and closer to the crowd this year. I would like the members to consider putting together and Airshow team for the show.
We need members that will volunteer to take on things such as a cross-country event in the spring. I would also like to see a fun fly or two.
This club is what the members make it. By working together tis coming year, this club can be better than it already is.
I’m looking forward to serving! Exciting times are ahead.
Be safe!

Al Tomlinson
